My given name is Andrea Marie. Most just call me ‘Andrea’. I’m known as ‘Drea’ to my close friends and family and my co-workers call me ‘Andy’.
I used to blog (write) on livejournal under the moniker of “am_klutz” which is the initials of my name and a pun on the statement ‘I am a klutz’ which I am by the way.
Why the name ‘the boke effect’? (pronounced as the boh-kay effect)
According to Wikipedia,
The bokeh is the blur or the aesthetic quality of the blur in out-of-focus areas of an image in photography. It originates from the Japanese word ‘boke’ which means ‘blur’ or ‘haze’.
I love photography but am an amateur. I am particularly interested in taking pictures of objects in macro and/or with the bokeh effect. This blog is about seeing things through my perspective. I write about a whole array of topics but at any one point, focus on mainly just one subject – similar to the bokeh effect in photography where one subject becomes the main focus and the rest, blurry (or out of focus). The topics revolve around my cooking adventures, travels around the world, love for home decorating and anything whimsical and beautiful and snippets on beauty and fashion.
I don’t write much about running but I still enjoy it very much. My passion for running started in 2004. The obsession started after I joined the Swoosh. I can’t quite describe the high that I get out of running, how good it makes me feel, the adrenaline rush, the feeling of accomplishment and the satisfaction of winning my own race each time I run. Till date, I have completed three marathons (NYC, Tokyo and Chicago) and aim to complete seven in my life time. I hope to run a marathon in a new destination each time and have my sights set on Honolulu, Berlin and Paris. My personal best timing is 4:32:03 (Tokyo). I hope to be able to run a sub-4 marathon some day. These days, I run, do yoga and mix it up with strength/circuit training (Kayla Itsines BBG, Nike Training Club (NTC). So it’s a whole mish-mash of sports that I’m enjoying at the moment.
I wouldn’t say this is all about me but you get the drift. Thanks for reading and hope to hear from each one of you, some day, some how.
